Welcome to the Cherry Cortez Photography Blog! To view some of my work, please go to the above menu and click on the link 'My Portfolio'. Feel free to browse around my blog and leave me a message in the 'comments' section of a post...i'd love to hear from ya!!

My name is Cherry and i am a professional newborn, maternity, child and family photographer located just outside of Toronto, Ontario. I'm a mother to three, wife to one, living in the burbs here in Canada. I dabble into a bit of everything. IT nerd / sewer / crafter / photographer / mommy and wife full-time. i wouldn't have it any other way :)

My style is simple. It's a touch of traditional studio mixed in with a whole lotta modern lifestyle. i love to capture natural, candid moments. You won't hear me asking your children to say 'cheese'...instead, i'll talk to them, sing with them and you may even catch me making silly jokes, faces and noises ;). I LOVE my job. I will capture your child's spirit, laugh and personality. I'll capture the anticipation and excitement while you are expecting or the tears of joy as you snuggle up with your newborn. Capturing your REAL life is what i'm all about.

Call or email me today....i'd love to chat with you.

{i’m back…}

from maternity leave….sort of :) .  August 1st has come and gone and i have officially started to take on bookings for fall and winter 2008. {summer lovin’.}

Yep….i’m still here.  Just enjoying this time in my life.  I love the summer.  Everyone is home for the next two months — all the kiddos, myself and yes…even Daddy!! LOVE it!!  It is sooooo great to not have to worry about what time it is or if we’re on schedule.  We’re got the whole summer to sleep in, swim, visit friends, vacation and to just play. These three make my day…

{One year old already.}

Remember this little guy? I photographed him at 12 days old.  Look at him now…. Isn’t he just the handsomest little man?!? :) nathan1yrproof01.jpgnathan1yrproof20-copy.jpg

{baby c.}

Meet this 7 day old little beauty.  Such a beautiful little girl.  I had such fun at this session.  First grandchild on both sides. Hmmmm…..i can already sense that this little sweetie is gonna be smothered with all kinds of love :) .  Here she is sound asleep….took daddy’s hard work magical touch to lull her off.

{3 months and still so tiny}.

I wanted to try this pose with with my littlest girl when she was only days old.  Haven’t been able to get around to it.  Ahhhhh…..life with a newborn.  Here she is, my baby girl…3 months later.

{sweet, sweet baby ‘M’.}

She was such a little sweetie…with the cutest hair.  Baby ‘M’ was 13 days at her photo shoot.  She was a tough little newborn — she fought us and stayed awake for most of the session and then finally gave in to us at the tail end.  After that, she let us pose her any way we wanted.  This is why i always recommend newborn photos to be taken as soon as you get home from the hospital (or within the first 14 days they are born).  Only a newborn can do the squishy, curly poses that we love so much. Look at little ‘M’ curl….newborns just melt my heart :)

{all smiles.}

This little cutie was all smiles the whole time i was there! I photographed little ‘N’ as a newborn — look at much he’s grown!! Now he’s a sitting, smiley, toe grabbin’ chubster!!

{watch me grow.}

Not only do i get to photograph your precious newborns but my favorite part is getting to watch them grow. My Baby Captured package is my most popular package.  3 sessions - Newborn, 6 months and 1 year. Remember this sweetie ?? Well….here she is 6 months later. What a cutie!! Little ‘GG’ was all smiles for me when i walked through the door but as soon as i whipped out my big honking camera, she was such a TOUGH little audience!!  I did manage to get squeeze a couple of smiles out of her :).  I had such a great time with this little one and her mommy.  thanks ‘k’ for a fun morning and the much needed adult conversation!!
