let me tell you how much i love facebook.  i connected with Jalen’s dad, Jose,  through facebook a few years ago.  we went to university together and after that haven’t been in contact  since.   Then along came facebook and Jose and i ‘friended’ each other.   we were probably facebook friends for a good year  and didn’t really connect until one morning about a month ago, i woke up to a message from Jose telling me all about his ‘after university life’ — how he got married to a beautiful girl named nicole, where they lived and how they had a little boy almost a year ago.  i could tell through his facebook message that he was thee PROUDEST dad ever….talking about his little jalen.  then he told me he contacted me to talk about having photographs of his little guy to mark his one year birthday but didn’t want the typical Sears/Walmart birthday photo with the huge #1 (i think we all know what he’s talkin’ about!).  he mentioned a smash the cake session but i knew i had to do something different….

When Nicole and Jose showed up with Jalen dressed to the nines, i knew my vision was going to be complete….

happy 1st birthday, little man!

meet this sweet little boy.  during the session we referred to him as ‘baby boy’.  mom and dad were thinking about the name ‘benjamin’ (which i absolutely LOVED) .  i was nicely surprised when i received an email a day later letting me know that they did infact name their little man, benjamin.   if you ask me….i think his name suits him perfectly….

this is benjamin at 8 days old with his big sister…who kept giving her baby brother THEE biggest kisses i have ever seen.  sooo sweet.

It’s so amazing to watch long time friends enter into parenthood.   This gorgeous couple waited so patiently for their baby boy …. and he couldn’t be more perfect.

Pink, pearls and tutus.  having two little girls of my own, i am all about the frills that comes along with them.  Here are a few more images from the spring mini sessions that i just heart <3.

The spring mini sessions have come and gone.  So many adorable little explorers came into the studio the last two weekends.  All came with eyes wide open and ready to adventure every nook and cranny of our little studio.  Here’s a little peek for some of you who are still waiting for your galleries….

When P and N contacted me to do their family portraits, P told me that his parents were going to be in town and that he also wanted to capture their 5 and 3 year old kids, especially before his 5 yr old’s teeth started to fall out.  Instantly, i knew that i was going to enjoy this family.  Freezing the moment is so important and i loved that this family believed in that.

P and N, your family is so down to earth — simple and so easy going with such a strong sense of family.  i had a fun morning with you both, your charming parents, C & J, and your adorable little monkeys, A and A.

I promised i’d get this out on the blog for you.  Not much of a sneak-peek with your gallery going out in the same day but nevertheless, a promise is a promise.

Miss M….so full of adventure.  She had quite the audience the morning of her session.  An audience who she had wrapped around her little fingers.  We were so captivated by her…swaying to the beat of Britney in her leather jacket and sassy tutu.   Uncle B , Auntie L and Gran  had a lot to do with bringing out her ‘sweet’ personality.  Sweets for the sweet . Let’s just say that after the session, I’m pretty sure that Uncle B was right up there on  Miss M’s  ‘Most Favourite’ list along with Barney and her puppy.

We just sat back and watched this little gal adventure and explore the studio and all its props.  Her curious little mind, so ready for the world.  There is so much to see Miss M and the world is is yours….

The studio has been quite busy the last couple of months.  We’ve seen many, many, MANY newborns and have been scoping out new products, new marketing ideas and other wonderful things and i have been working on updating this blog.   Big news is about to be revealed in the next few weeks so stay tuned and be sure to sign up for the email newsletter. If you signed up for my newsletter, you were one of the firsts to be informed of the CCP Limited Holiday Mini Sessions and a few of you have already snatched up some time-slots.

What is a mini-session?  A ‘mini’ is a quick 20 minute session – how easy is that?! You get to choose between two great packages that suit everyone’s need and tastes.   Perfect to help with all your gift giving dilemmas (an 8×10 for aunt judith, an 11×14 for grandma and grandpa…).  If you’re looking to get some holiday cards done, the ‘Joy Captured’ package includes holiday cards.  You can choose between this year’s cards or even last year’s cards — and i must admit, they are just beautiful:: Press printed 5×7 double sided cards in your choice of linen, watercolor, or pearl finish.  The minis are also great for those that don’t want a full session just yet but would still love to capture their baby at 6 months or 3 months or to capture your belly if you are expecting or just to have your family photos updated.

When:  Saturday October 17th 2009
Time:  time slots available from 8:30 am to 3:30pm
Where: Pickering – in-studio location : to be announced
Who:  includes up to 4 people
ie. – 2 adults, 2 children
- 1 adult, 3 children
- up to 3 children

There are a few spots remaining and i expect these to go quite quickly.  This is a One-Day only event and spots are limited so be sure to hurry and reserve your time-slot.  Once they are gone, they’re gone…

**To reserve your spot, full payment is required at the time of booking.  Due to the quick and easy nature of the mini.session, these time slots are not suitable for newborns.

I can’t believe the summer has come and gone and in less than a week, the kids are all officially back to school.  I’ve been waking up the last couple of days and opening the front door to breathe in that ‘fall school air’.  Y’know the one that i am talking about.  The cool air that signifies the onset of routines, homework, making lunches, changing colors and holiday planning.

With the Fall, all the holiday planning begins.  This year i’m so excited to be offering these beautiful 5×7 press printed cards.  Each card has a front and a back.  Since the back has plenty of space, there’s room to add some personal text, be it handwritten or printed directly onto the card.  A set of 24 cards is $95 and $50 for each additional set.  These cards are available to current clients and past clients.  If you are a client who’s had a session previously with me, just email me at info@cherrycortez.com or call me at 647.400.6538 and we can get you started on your Christmas cards.  Don’t forget to place your orders before the deadline – Sunday November 8th 2009.
